G7 Series Drive

This amazing AC drive is the ultimate performance solution with increased speed and torque response to provide servo-like performance from an induction motor. In addition, the G7 drive includes the world’s first Inverter architecture that eliminates or minimizes the installation problems associated with IGBT switching on 480 volt systems and protects the entire motor-drive system.

G7 drive performance makes it the ideal drive for high performance speed, torque, or position control applications. Several control modes are provided. In open loop vector mode, the latest flux observer algorithms extend speed range and provide maximum starting torque. In closed loop vector mode, 0.01% speed regulation and 1000:1 control range can be achieved. Zero-servo capability provides position control at zero speed.

The G7 drive has the world’s first 480V 3-Level Inverter architecture for total system protection. This patented 3-Level architecture can eliminate peripheral components typically required to solve installation problems sometimes encountered on 480 volt systems. The G7 allows motor operation at very long cable lengths, meeting NEMA MG1 Part 31, with peak voltage being 30% less than conventional. With motor bearing current being typically 50% less than standard inverters, the G7 provides four times the motor bearing life. Audible motor noise on the 480 volt G7 drive is 5-10 dB (20%) less than the prior generation drive, even when operating at half the carrier frequency. Common mode current is half that of conventional drives. The G7 power section includes built-in bus choke (most ratings), 12-pulse input capability (most ratings), common DC bus capability, and regeneration options.

The G7 drive has three autotuning methods to optimize motor control, including the new static autotuning which does not require load decoupling nor motor rotation. The LCD operator displays 5 lines x 16 characters, in any of 7 languages. The keypad is intuitive and includes memory for parameter settings, making it easy to transfer settings from one drive to another. To further aid in parameter management, DriveWizard™ software for the PC is available at no charge, for upload, download, archiving, trending, and graphing.

The G7 drive has a large programming feature set to handle sophisticated industrial applications. If the standard feature set does not meet your specific requirement, the G7 can be programmed using DriveWorksEZ™. This is a PC-based, object-oriented, graphical icon programming tool that is friendly to the user. The drive firmware can also be modified by custom or prewritten application-specific modules such as Motion Control or Electronic Lineshaft.

The G7 drive supports the industry’s preference for open network architecture and connectivity with network choices such as DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, Ethernet, and others.

The G7 is not intended for the simple, routine AC drive application, it is for the challenges. The G7 drive offers the ultimate performance, the best system protection, and the most flexible configurations of any drive available.

V74X Series Drive

This AC drive is a version of the standard V7, in an integral enclosure that meets NEMA type 4X/12 indoor use requirements, UL type 4X/12 standards, and the IP66 rating of IEC 529. This enclosure provides the protection required in tough washdown or dust-tight environments, common in Food and Beverage Processing, Packaging, Metal Machining, Woodworking, Pumping, Refrigeration, and Printing. The cast enclosure is powder-coated to protect against the harmful effects of sanitizing chemicals commonly used in food industries.

Performance and features are identical to the standard V7, in NEMA 1 enclosure. Two control methods, V/Hz and open loop vector, allow speed/torque performance to suit the application. In addition to tighter speed regulation, open loop vector control provides higher torque at lower speeds.

The digital operator provides 4-digit LED status display and programming of almost 200 parameters. The digital pulse train input provides a precise frequency input, and is the perfect solution for speed/follower applications. Seven standard multifunction inputs can be programmed to allow for 17 preset speeds. This drive also has an analog input, a multifunction relay output, two multifunction open collector outputs, and an analog output as standard.

An RS485 Modbus RTU communication port is standard, allowing 32 nodes on a single network. Plug-in interface option boards enable communications with major networks such as DeviceNet, Profibus, and others. The option board is installed directly on the drive via simple snap-in connectors.

One of the outstanding options for the V74X is DriveWizard. This software enables upload, download, and monitoring of parameters. Another software, CASE, can add functionality to the drive by reconfiguring drive defaults, establishing presets for OEM equipment, and by eliminating peripheral controls and PLCs.

The V74X is available from 1/8 to 10 HP at 230 VAC and 1/2 to 15 HP at 460 VAC. (This V74X was previously named GPD 315/V74X)

With the same performance characteristics as the NEMA 1 enclosed drive, the V74X benefits the User by having only one drive to learn and support factory-wide.

V7 Series Drive

The V7 Drive is a high performance AC drive for induction motors, providing low motor noise and high starting torque. The V7 provides two control methods; V/f and open loop vector control for precision speed regulation applications. In addition to good speed regulation, open loop vector control also provides higher torque at lower speeds. The V7 is intended for constant torque applications, with current overload rating of 150% for 60 seconds.

The V7 is fully featured and compact. The digital operator provides 4-digit LED status display with a built-in analog speed potentiometer, as well as digital programming of almost 200 parameters. The digital pulse train input provides a precise frequency input, and is the perfect solution for speed / follower applications. The seven standard multi-function inputs can be programmed to allow for 17 preset speeds. The V7 also has an analog input, a multi-function output, two multi-function open collector outputs, and an analog output as standard.

The V7 is ideally suited for applications such as conveyors, grinders, centrifuges, pumps, fans, blowers, machine tools, packaging, food processing, and commercial laundry.

One of the outstanding options for the V7 is DriveWizard. This software enables upload, download, and monitoring of parameters. Another software, CASE, can add functionality to the drive by reconfiguring drive defaults, establishing presets for OEM equipment, and by eliminating peripheral controls and PLCs.

A RS-485 Modbus RTU communication port is standard, allowing 32 nodes on a single network. Plug-in interface option boards enable the drive to communicate with all the major networks, such as DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, and others. The option board installs directly on the drive control board via simple snap-in connectors.

A version of this drive called V7N is available with DeviceNet embedded in the drive control board, reducing cost and installation time.

Another version of this drive called V74X is available with integral NEMA 4X/12 enclosure for dusty and wet environments.

The V7 is provided in a NEMA 1 enclosure from 1/8 to 10 HP at 230 VAC and 1/2 to 10 HP at 460 VAC. (This V7 was previously named GPD 315/V7)

G5HHP SeriesDrive

G5HHP is a high horsepower AC drive. The drive is of modular design with separate converter and inverter sections installed in a common enclosure. These sections can be paralleled to increase capacity to 1600 amps at 460 and 600 volts.

Utilizing this modular approach, the drive offers a commonality of parts throughout the 400 to 1600 amp ratings, facilitating the construction of a drive to meet customer application needs in 400 amp increments. The desired power level is achieved simply by adding converter modules and 400 amp inverter modules in parallel. Slide-rail construction techniques permit easy access for maintenance, removal or replacement.

Th G5HHP features a standard non-regenerative front end and can easily support a 12-pulse, 18-pulse, or a 24-pulse configuration for reduced harmonics. Other power-related options are available which include circuit breakers, line reactors and filters.

The drive provides increased versatility in installations of up to 1750 horsepower, including pumps and fans, chillers, pulp and paper manufacturing, mining industry conveyors, rock crushers and extruders.

The drive incorporates three control modes in one product; traditional V/Hz, open loop vector, and closed loop flux vector.

The G5HHP is equipped with a serial port utilizing standard Modbus protocol. Drive interfaces access all parameters, diagnostics, and operational commands. Optional interface boards provide a wide range of control, monitoring, and diagnostic communication capabilities for integration from plant floor to supervisory level systems.

As a solutions provider, Yaskawa supports and encourages the industry's demand for open architecture and open connectivity. The G5HHP drive can communicate via all of the popular communication protocols such as DeviceNet, Modbus, Profibus and others.

DriveWizardTM , an easy to use software tool, enables the user to upload, download, and monitor drive parameters.

CASETM software (optional) can add functionality to the drive by reconfiguring drive defaults, establishing presets for OEM equipment, and by eliminating peripheral controls and PLCs. CASE application-specific software can be easily flashed to the on-board ROM.

NEMA 12 FVFF is the standard enclosure style. Other enclosure types are available.
